Short as it is, the Easter holidays are long enough for some much-needed relaxation after an eventful and busy first quarter of the year. One of the many adventures that people take on, is a visit up-country to catch up with their parents, siblings & childhood friends or to just get away from the hustle & bustle of the city.
We do all agree that Kenyan roads are not for the faint-hearted right? With this in mind, it’s quite essential to take the necessary pre-cautions to ensure that you’re back home safe & sound, ready for your 8 am appointment with the boss next week!
We have compiled a checklist of the things you might need to consider for your trip just to make it all the more safe and worthwhile. To begin with, make a few checks on your car to ensure that it runs smoothly and will not bring any unexpected surprises that could ruin your holiday.
Embark on your trip early enough to avoid that last minute rush. Overspeeding or any kind of reckless behavior on the road can result in risking your life and the lives of your family and other road users hence you need to be extra careful. Do not drive while fatigued and plan to take small breaks in between your trip to rest or have a co-driver who you can alternate with when you feel tired. Avoid the use of mobile phones to call or even text while driving and adhere to other stipulated traffic rules along the way for the sake of your safety and to avoid trouble with the boys in blue.
Carry enough joy & anticipation to have the time of your life while at it! Have a good laugh as you bond with family over engaging conversations and some good music, make stops along the way to enjoy the beautiful scenery that our country has to offer and carry some books to read or even some video games & movies to watch on your laptop which will greatly help you pass time especially if the you will be on the road for long hours.
Make your Easter trip count. As you head out, stay safe and enjoy the short holiday. Happy Easter from us all at Car Duka
